San José Mineta International Airport is recruiting for an Airport Operations Superintendent I/II, specifically for the Safety Management System (SMS) Superintendent in the Airside Section. Under supervision of the Airside and Emergency Planning Manager, this role involves planning, implementing, and operating the Airport’s SMS Programs, FAR139-mandated Emergency Planning, and Airside Construction. The position serves as the primary administrator of the Airport’s SMS program, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe work environment and emergency procedures in accordance with FAA regulations. The role requires interpreting complex regulations and a strong knowledge of proprietary computer systems, databases, and software. Experience in Airport Operations or SMS is highly desirable. Salary ranges: Airport Operations Superintendent I: $130,734.24 - $159,300.96 Airport Operations Superintendent II: $151,198.32 - $184,220.40 Qualifications Superintendent I:

Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field plus four years of aviation experience, including two at the level of Airport Operations Supervisor I or higher. Superintendent II:

Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field, two certifications from an industry organization, and six years of aviation experience, including two at the Superintendent I level. Additional experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Licensing requirements: Complete TSA-mandated background and security checks. California Driver's License. Obtain Airport Ramp Drivers Permit and Movement Area Operating Permit within 6 months. This position requires verification of employment eligibility and background checks, including TSA clearance. The City of San Jose does not sponsor visas.
