The Maintenance Manager position is a job opportunity for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in facilities management within a campus environment, who enjoys and excels at leading, communicating and interacting with diverse staff while providing sophisticated building management administration skills. This position is located in the Facilities and Engineering Division of the Airport Department for the City of San Jose that is responsible for 24x7 coverage to meet the business needs of our business partners.
Under the direction of the Building Management Administrator the Maintenance Manager position is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty including planning, organizing, and directing the Airport's comprehensive building, airfield, and grounds management programs. This position is key in providing oversight on the day-to-day operations, management of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and management of resources including staff and required materials. This position will supervise several maintenance supervisors and other maintenance staff.
The final candidate’s qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay, which is included in the range below.
The Maintenance Manager salary range is $145,502.50 - $182,345.54 annually.

Project Management - Ensures support for projects and implements agency goals and strategic objectives. Collaboration - Develops networks and builds alliances; engages in cross-functional activities. Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, or other related field and six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance of public infrastructure features such as landscaping, sewers, streets, traffic control or related areas, including two (2) years of supervision experience at a level equivalent to Maintenance Superintendent with the City of San Jose.
Acceptable Substitution Additional experience in maintenance of public infrastructure features such as landscaping, sewers, streets, traffic control or related areas may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year-for- year basis. There is no substitution for the two (2) years of supervision experience at a level equivalent to Maintenance Superintendent with the City of San Jose. Required Licensing
(such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.) Possession of a valid State of California driver's license may be required for some assignments. Employment Eligibility Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in this country. Please be informed that the City of San Jose will NOT sponsor, represent or sign any documents related to visa applications/transfers for H1-B or any other type of visa which requires an employer application. Candidates are required to satisfactorily complete and pass a fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check prior to being considered for a position in this class at the Airport.
