About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal Manager to lead our U.S. Patent Prosecution Paralegal Team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring consistency across our IP prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive U.S. patent prosecution experience, exceptional leadership and team management skills, and a proven track record in a law firm environment. This role will supervise a team of 17+ paralegals and act as the key point of contact for prosecution procedures, escalation issues, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of U.S. patent prosecution paralegals, including work assignments, workload balancing, and performance management
Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex patent prosecution tasks and procedural issues
Partner closely with attorneys, docketing, and legal support staff to ensure timely and accurate prosecution support
Develop and implement standardized workflows and best practices to promote operational efficiency and compliance
Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new paralegal staff
Monitor deadlines, workload metrics, and quality control alongside the docketing and legal operations teams
Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives across the IP practice
Contribute to firm-wide IP operations and strategic initiatives
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong background in law firm operations -
corporate/in-house experience will not be considered
Deep understanding of USPTO rules, procedures, and electronic filing systems (e.g., PAIR, EFS-Web, Patent Center)
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program
Experience managing international IP workflows or global IP operations
Familiarity with IP docketing systems and legal technology platforms
