Position Summary
The Executive Director, Global Facilities Operations and EH&S is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing the global strategy for facilities management and environmental health & safety across all corporate and R&D sites. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a culture of safety and sustainability that supports the company’s mission.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with deep expertise in facilities operations, EH&S programs, and organizational leadership within a regulated biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance
Serve as the primary advisor to executive leadership on matters related to real estate, site operations, and EH&S risk, offering strategic guidance and actionable insights. Define and communicate the global strategy for facilities operations and EH&S, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and long-term growth plans. Present long-range strategic plans and infrastructure recommendations to senior leadership for review and decision-making. Direct planning efforts for site development, space optimization, and capital investment prioritization. Establish and maintain governance frameworks, performance metrics (KPIs), and reporting systems to support continuous improvement and operational accountability.
Global Facilities Operations
Manage all aspects of facilities operations across corporate and R&D sites, including maintenance, utilities, infrastructure, and space planning. Lead capital projects and renovations, ensuring alignment with business needs, timelines, and budgets. Develop and manage the global multi-year operating and capital budgets for facilities and EH&S, ensuring alignment with corporate financial targets. Present financial plans and major capital investment proposals to the executive leadership. Champion workplace experience initiatives, including sustainability, ergonomics, and employee well-being. Lead planning and execution of ex-US facility expansion projects, including site selection, regulatory alignment, and integration with global operations. Oversee physical security programs and infrastructure to ensure the safety and protection of all sites and personnel.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
Develop and implement global EH&S policies, standards, and training programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Ensure adherence to international, federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, EU-OSHA, ISO). Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action planning. Oversee programs for chemical safety, biosafety, radiation safety, and potent compound handling. Collaborate with scientific and operational teams to ensure EH&S integration into research workflows.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Build and lead a high-performing global team of facilities and EH&S professionals. Foster cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, HR, Legal, IT, and other departments to support operational readiness and business continuity. Represent the company in regulatory inspections, external audits, and industry forums.
Risk Management & Sustainability
Identify and mitigate risks related to infrastructure, safety, and environmental impact. Drive sustainability initiatives including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green building practices. Lead the development and reporting of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ECG) initiatives related to facilities operations. Maintain and enhance emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
Required
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Facilities Management, or a related field. Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with at least 10 years spent managing global or multi-site functions and teams Proven success in managing multi-site operations and leading global teams. Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks including GMP, GLP, and EH&S standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred
Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, LEED AP, PMP, or Six Sigma are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks including GMP, GLP, and EH&S standards, with direct experience in the design, construction, or management of GMP-compliant manufacturing or laboratory facilities highly preferred.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Total Compensation
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $250,000 - $312,000.
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. Position Summary
