Job Purpose

The Production Planner is responsible for generating the plans and schedules for production and packaging and expediting items required to meet plans. The Production Planner also reports performance against plans and escalates issues.

Accountabilities For the generating the master production schedule and the detail production plans that sit below that schedule, to allow execution of the production schedule on-time in full. For notifying projected ship dates for each order. For stagging raw material testing with quality control/assurance personnel to assure the timely release of raw materials to meet projected schedules. For establishing and reporting metrics for production, packaging and product delivery. For requesting the Issuance of Manufacturing and Packaging Records from Document Control as needed. For assessing the supply and demand of production, packaging and QC resources needed to deliver projected customer orders.

Essential Job Functions Assign manufacturing dates based on Customer Service forecast and output from the S&OP process. Prepare monthly and weekly schedules for manufacturing, compression and packaging. Coordinate and schedule the testing of raw materials and packaging components to meet production schedules. Inform Production Management personnel of any impending schedule changes. Notify Customer Service of projected customer order ship date changes. Track all work-in-progress versus published schedules. Generate and distribute tracking reports. Develop and implement improvements in scheduling to achieve optimum productivity. Participate in the S&OP and schedule activities as agreed by the S&OP. Notify Customer Service of projected ship date for each new order. Request issuance of Manufacturing and Packaging Records from Document Control as needed. Position Requirements

Key Characteristics

The job holder must have the ability to understand the order of processing, testing and logistical activities and schedule them to achieve optimum productivity. The job holder must be an excellent communicator. The job holder must have the ability to work by influencing to gain cooperation in meeting deadlines. The job holder must have the ability to prioritize and service a range of demands and create a workable plan for execution. High levels of initiative (particularly in relation to planning) and tenacity. Extremely organized Ability to execute activities seamlessly in the Mikart legacy ERP system. Education and Qualifications

An associate degree and/or other combination of education and experience. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing organization. Knowledgeable in planning and scheduling. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least five years production planning experience using an ERP system is required. Physical Demands

Ability to schedule multiple priorities providing an optimal (best possible) schedule. A standard 5 day work schedule on site is expected. This role will be based in Atlanta with very limited expectations of travel.
