This is a part-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Manager of Auxiliary Operations and is located on JWCC's main campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.

JOB DESCRIPTION The Afternoon Lead Bookstore Clerk serves as a primary customer service representative for the JWCC Bookstore and works as part of the bookstore team to provide quality service to all JWCC stakeholders. This clerk, in tandem with their morning counterpart, serves as the on-site expert in handling transactions for Student Financial Aid, online order processing, order shipping and receiving, POS functions, store opening/closing procedures, and general tasks required for daily operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Help customers in store, over the phone, through email, and via the online store portal with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Be able to handle various requests and be solution oriented. Work the bookstore POS registers during business hours processing customer transactions. Leads the student bookstore clerks in ensuring procedures are followed and address is a resource for questions as they arise. Ensure daily clerk tasks are completed – such as cleaning, restocking,

straightening/folding

of merchandise, rotation of food product, filing, or other duties as assigned. Close the store at the end of shift which includes:

Working alongside student clerks to count the POS registers and complete paperwork. Preparing the nightly deposits. Completing the nightly JWCC financial reporting via Banner Ensure the proper closing/locking of facility. Verifying food/drink clean-up tasks have been completed

(tea/coffee/pretzel

machine/etc.)

Maintain store inventory and purchases – reporting any damages or shortages from shipments. Work alongside AM Lead Clerk to ensure Pepsi orders are placed weekly, rotating the stock, and compiling out-of-date product that can be returned for credit. Assist in maintaining the bookstore POS system and run reports. Assist with special annual projects/events – such as store inventory, book buyback, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience: 1-2 years retail or comparable customer service experience preferred. High School Diploma or comparable GED preferred.

Skills & Competencies: Effective and professional oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills (including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to adapt to new programs. Familiarity with Point-of-Sale systems. Strong customer relations skills – with willingness to go the extra mile to resolve customer questions and issues, and the ability to stay calm and courteous during stressful interactions Aptitude for organization and cleanliness. Leadership skills and the ability to direct and delegate tasks. Basic problem-solving skills. Utilizes judgement when dealing with day-to-day problems, but is willing to seek direction from supervisors to solve difficult or complex issues. Punctuality and integrity

Working Conditions: Temperature-controlled office and retail environment. Various indoor areas throughout the JWCC campus facilities. Operates in an open workspace in the view of customers and other staff. Occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb on ladders and step stools. Sitting and/or standing for long periods. Can include occasional prolonged periods of bending, stretching, or carrying objects as needed for stocking, restocking, and floor resets of merchandise.

Work Schedule: Part-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (12:00pm – 5:00pm) and Friday (8:00am – 12:00pm). Flexibility to work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.

SALARY: This is a non-exempt position with an estimated hourly rate of $15.00.
