Position Summary: Develops and implements educational programs and activities that promote the professional development and competency maintenance of clinical and support staff. Conducts needs assessments, identifies learning needs and provides programs that will improve staff’s knowledge base. Participates in and assists nurses in the research process. Reviews and updates patient/family educational material. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Orients and educates staff. Individualizes plans, implements and evaluates new employee’s unit orientation. Plans, implements and evaluates educational programs in response to health care trends, staff learning needs, regulatory, and product or equipment changes. Utilizes principles of education and adult learning to provide opportunities and experiences for professional growth consistent with the novice to expert continuum. Utilizes the process of systematic inquiry to develop educational activities. Contributes educational expertise to facilitate and enhance achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals. Maintains knowledge of national and local trends in nursing practice. Promotes continuous improvement and collaborates to implement change. Coordinates BLS training programs. Coordinates CPI training programs. Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Medical: Covers nursing orientation of RNs, new grads, CNAs, coordinates School of Nursing schedules, coordinates BLS/CPR training, teaches BLS/CPR, covers unit-specific education on 2A/3C. Critical Care: Covers unit specific education of RNs and CNAs in ER, Telemetry and ICU; coordinates new product education programs; teaches BLS/CPR; back up to orientation. Surgical: Covers unit specific education of RNs and scrub techs in OR and for C/S in L creates education programs for pre/post op care throughout hospital; teaches BLS/CPR; back up to orientation. Qualifications: Current IL RN License is required Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience Associates Degree (BSN preferred or MSN is highly preferred) BLS required ACLS and TNCC/ENPC is preferred Compensation: Pay or shift range: $95K Annual USD to $110K Annual USD The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
