### Job Description: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - 12-Hour Night Shift
**Position Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 12-hour night shift position. The successful candidate will be required to work every other weekend, with assignments concluding on Saturday. This role is ideal for RNs with a strong background in labor and delivery and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit.
- Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, responding to changes in status.
- Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care.
- Participate in patient education and facilitate communication with patients and families.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, utilizing Cerner software as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license required at the time of submission.
- Travel nursing experience is preferred; all requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted with your application.
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification (equivalency) is desirable.
- Willingness to work in a teaching hospital setting, engaging with students and new hires.
**Additional Information:**
- Guaranteed hours: 91 contract weeks.
- Float required: No.
- The client can cancel assignments up to 36 hours in advance based on census.
