Facility & Unit Details:

• Unit Type: Float pool across 6 ICUs + Pratt 8 Cardiomyopathy IMC
  • ICUs: SICU, MICU, PG5ICU, CCU, NCCU, CSICU
  • IMC Unit: Pratt 8 (14 beds, cardiomyopathy/step-down level)
• Unit Sizes: ICUs range from 8 to 18 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity
• Common Diagnoses: Critical care and IMC-level patients, post-op cardiac, trauma, CVVH, cardiac devices (e.g., IABP, Impella)

Shift & Scheduling:

• Type: 12-hour Day/Night Rotating (7:00 AM–7:30 PM & 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
• Weekend: Every other weekend
• Holiday: One major winter and one major summer holiday
• Self-Scheduling: Participatory “wish list” only; no guaranteed block scheduling
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Key Requirements:

• Experience:
  • Critical care required
  • Strong cardiac background
  • Familiarity with IABP, Impella, CVVH, post-op cardiac
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA only)
• Telemetry: RNs read own strips (every 4 hours); Philips monitors
• Titrating Drips: Required (e.g., Levo, Vaso, Neo, Propofol)
• Device Experience: Not required

Additional Notes:

• Float Expectation: Float among any 2 units per shift
• Orientation: 3 shifts, includes walk-through of all units
• Support: Charge nurses take assignments; most units have 1 aide
• RT & Provider Support:
  • RT available 24/7 and manages all respiratory equipment
  • Intensivist/hospitalist present 24/7
• Scrubs: No color requirement, but no other facility logos allowed
• Charting System: Cerner Soarian 2010
• Local Travelers Accepted: Yes (local bill/OT rate applies)
