Accounting Assistant
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Assistant to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic real estate organization by managing financial transactions and ensuring accuracy in accounting practices. The role focuses on accounts payable and supports other accounting functions, including payroll, financial reporting, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Process invoices, verify debts, and ensure timely payments through appropriate approval channels.
- Manage check-related activities such as deposits, reconciliations, voids, and reissues.
- Oversee accounts receivable transactions, including payment documentation and posting updates.
- Reconcile financial records using accounting software and address discrepancies.
- Allocate payroll-related expenses to general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy.
- Assist in preparing quarterly budgets and collaborate with senior management on financial planning.
- Generate and review financial statements and balance sheets for accuracy.
- Perform journal entries and reconcile accounts to maintain financial integrity.
- Support audits and help enhance corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to accounting clerks to ensure quality and efficiency in operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or 3-5 years of equivalent experience, preferably within the real estate industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Infor Sunsystems, Yardi, or AppFolio.
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and ability to code invoices effectively.
- Understanding of real estate accounting processes is a plus.
