About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising and communications efforts. The CDO will be a key member of the C-Suite, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the organization's financial sustainability. This role involves setting and meeting revenue targets, representing the organization to external stakeholders, and guiding a team in all aspects of fund development, including major gifts, grants, and events. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the marketing and communications team, ensuring that all messaging and branding align with the mission and fundraising goals. A strong commitment to the values of the organization, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, and a culture of philanthropy grounded in inclusion and equity, is essential.
Applicants for the CDO position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' experience in nonprofit development, with a proven track record of raising significant funds. Deep knowledge of fundraising strategies, donor engagement models, and the nonprofit landscape in California is required. The role demands excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, as well as a strong commitment to racial and social equity. The CDO will be expected to work in a dynamic, youth-centered environment and may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and donor cultivation. A Bachelor's degree is required, and fluency in CRM/database systems, preferably Salesforce, is a plus.
