About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising and communications efforts. The CDO will be a key member of the C-Suite, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the organization's financial sustainability. This role involves setting and meeting revenue targets, representing the organization to external stakeholders, and guiding a high-performing team in all aspects of fund development. The successful candidate will be responsible for major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, grants, and corporate sponsorships, and will be expected to drive innovation in donor engagement and fundraising practices.
Applicants for the CDO position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' experience in nonprofit development, with a proven track record of raising six- and seven-figure gifts. A deep knowledge of fundraising strategy, donor engagement models, and the nonprofit landscape in California is essential. The role requires a commitment to racial and social equity, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, youth-centered environment. The CDO will also be responsible for overseeing the marketing and communications team, ensuring that all messaging and branding align with the organization's mission and fundraising goals. A Bachelor's degree is required, and a CRM/database fluency, preferably in Salesforce, is a plus.
