About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Business and Legal Affairs to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be a key leader in supporting the legal, business, and operational activities of the company. This role is pivotal in managing day-to-day business and legal matters related to development and production, overseeing projects from inception to completion, and ensuring that the company's goals align with the broader organization. The VP will be responsible for a range of tasks, including leading negotiations for production deals, distribution agreements, talent contracts, and partnerships, as well as providing legal and business input to senior management. A strong background in entertainment law, with a focus on both litigation and transactional matters, is essential, along with experience in the creative side of development and production in scripted television and/or film.
The ideal candidate will have a J.D. and be a member of the California Bar in good standing, or eligible to register as in-house counsel with the California Bar. They should have a proven track record of at least 8-10 years in the field, with significant experience in the legal aspects of film and television production. Management experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for contributing to impactful storytelling are also required. The role demands a highly organized, proactive individual who can collaborate effectively across legal, creative, and business teams. The VP will work closely with internal and external partners to protect the company's intellectual property and rights, assess business risks, and support strategic growth initiatives.
