About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to spearhead its philanthropic efforts. The CDO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy. This strategy will include identifying and cultivating individual, corporate, foundation, and government donors, with a focus on expanding and diversifying the organization's donor base. The successful candidate will also be tasked with providing strategic oversight to all aspects of the fundraising program, including individual giving, institutional funding, and special events. As the lead fundraiser, the CDO will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure that the organization's goals and objectives are met and will be expected to represent the organization in public forums and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
Candidates for the CDO position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. A bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing funding from various sources and achieving fundraising goals. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential, as is a deep commitment to the values and principles of the nonprofit sector. The CDO will also be responsible for managing a team and must demonstrate success in staff management and mentorship.
