10 Purpose of Position:

The Family Engagement & Partnership Liaison serves as a bridge between school site personnel providing student services and the families who need these services. This role involves implementing a comprehensive family education and leadership program aligned with the District’s Framework for Family Engagement to strengthen family-school partnerships and enhance student outcomes. Monroe Elementary Essential Functions: Participate in ongoing professional learning promoting Culturally and Linguistically Sustaining Pedagogies & Perspectives. Implement practices ensuring equitable outcomes for all students and families. Communicate effectively in Spanish and English, both orally and in writing. Articulate the district’s commitment to equity in all settings. Accountability: Apply the Dual-Capacity Building Framework for Parent-School Partnerships (Mapp, 2019) in planning and executing work. Assist in planning and coordinating parent advisory committee activities. Administer parent surveys effectively, considering families’ communication preferences. Develop parent and educator educational materials. Maintain records and prepare reports on program activities. Communication: Assist with preschool enrollment and TK/kindergarten registration. Attend meetings involving parents, students, and staff. Collaborate with the District Family Engagement Unit (FEU). Serve as liaison between families and school/community resources. Conduct home visits as directed. Help parent organizations understand program goals and educational procedures. Disseminate information and respond to inquiries from the district, schools, and parents. Coordinate language access services per SB Unified’s guidelines. Culture and Climate: Promote respectful relationships among staff, students, families, and the community. Organize workshops and training to build capacity among educators and families. Support parental involvement and volunteer recruitment. Coordinate volunteer activities including parent leaders and room parents. Other Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of procedures and strategies for school and community liaison programs. Understanding of multilingual and multicultural programs and public education goals. Ability to perform clerical and record management tasks. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to establish cooperative relationships with staff and parents. Proficiency in operating computers and software such as MS Office and Google Suite. Skill in resolving sensitive issues. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Indoor environment; some travel; home visits; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; driving required. Experience and Education:

Two years of college coursework and two years of community work with diverse populations, preferably in a school setting. Additional Requirements: Bilingual in Spanish and passing the district’s proficiency assessment. Valid California driver’s license. Experience working with multicultural families. College education or equivalent experience. Eligible for Language Services premium pay.
