The Principal Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Engineering and Technology Manager and is a key member of the Colonial Heights Maintenance Excellence Leadership Team. This position is responsible for improving all aspects of electrical and instrument machine health at the site, located approximately 15 miles south of Richmond, VA. It is the primary manufacturing facility for Spectra Fiber supporting Honeywell's Performance Product business.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer at Honeywell, you will lead the design and development of complex electrical systems and components, provide technical expertise, and guide cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution, contributing to high-quality, innovative electrical engineering solutions.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
5+ years of relevant plant-floor experience in a manufacturing environment
1+ year of experience in controls, instrumentation, programming, hardware design, manufacturing, project design, reliability engineering, maintenance, or production engineering
Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, Project, Adobe Acrobat, and ERP systems

Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system maintenance modules

Key Responsibilities:
Address electrical and instrumentation problems through design, application, and reliability techniques
Manage instrumentation devices and perform E/I loop checks, calibrations, and interlock testing
Serve as primary contact for E&I issues during and outside working hours
Develop guidelines, standards, and procedures for electrical and instrumentation work
Lead troubleshooting and support outage activities
Collaborate with operations to resolve maintenance and mechanical issues
Support capital projects and process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency
Utilize SAP, MS Project, and MS Office tools for project and data management
Use testing instruments and statistical tools for equipment assessment and trend analysis
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
Coordinate spare parts and equipment procurement
Track plant downtime and OEE, and report on reliability metrics
Perform inspections, repairs, and support for electrical integrity and MOC programs
Support Maintenance Excellence initiatives
