Position Title:
Assistant/Associate Director, Centralized Academic Advising (Title V) Associate Director Range: $77,500 - $85,000 Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, the Assistant/Associate Director of Centralized Academic Advising will serve as a key leader in the Office of Centralized Advising and Academic Success, fostering strong partnerships with Enrollment Management, Deans’ Offices, Department Chairs, and other campus stakeholders to advance a cohesive and student-centered advising experience. This position will be responsible for advising outcomes and special projects, playing a critical role in caseload coordination and tracking and documentation of advising activities, ensuring that systems and data support the institutional goals of student success that are in alignment with Title V grant objectives. This position will lead the development of systems and projects that support both advisors and students, strengthen the institutional response to academic alerts, and ensure a structured, inclusive, and welcoming advising experience -facilitating a seamless transition for students of all backgrounds and abilities. The Assistant/Associate Director must be able to work both independently and collaboratively to advance these efforts. This position is partly funded through a Title V grant. This is an in person on campus non - remote position. Responsibilities: Provide tailored advising to a caseload of 125-175 students, maintaining accurate student records Lead the coordination and tracking of students on academic probation, continued probation, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status, ensuring they complete required advising meetings, participate in mandated programming, and are monitored for eligibility to continue their studies. Collaborate with Financial Aid, the Registrar, and Academic Success units to develop shared intervention strategies and reporting structures that promote retention and compliance with institutional and federal guidelines Promote a successful transition for incoming and transfer students into Manhattan University and to onto their faculty advisors Support the Director in coordinating and executing overall advising and programming functions of the office, including the design and delivery of orientation, first year experience, workshops, and other related programming for prospective and current students, as well as students nearing graduation Lead the development of systems that assist advisors in managing caseloads, including shared tools and protocols. Coordinate all advisor activity and ensure advising meetings and notes are tracked consistently in Jasper Connect (Starfish), generating usable data for institutional analysis and grant reporting; assist coordination with the Title V Data Coordinator to ensure data supports student success metrics and retention outcomes Manage the academic flags and early alert system raised by faculty, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to advising structures; Maintain up-to-date knowledge of articulation agreements and advising regulations to inform students, staff, and faculty Contribute to the development of an Advising Manual and other advising-related resources for students, staff, and faculty advisors, including digital content, webpages, public-facing resources, and training guides. Coordinate and maintain advising-related web pages and public-facing content Assist in the development and implementation of Student Educational Planners (SEP) within Degree Works to promote student persistence and on-time graduation Serve as an advising representative on institutional committees for specific student populations (e.g., NCAA athletes, Veterans) Engage with national best practices in academic advising and student support, and lead the design and delivery of ongoing professional development opportunities for advisors and related staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement and equity-minded practices The Associate Director would be required to represent Centralized Academic Advising internally and externally Work one alternative schedule each week to facilitate evening opening hours until 6:00pm Other duties as assigned . Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree required for Assistant Director Master’s degree required for Associate Director Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills Previous experience working in a higher education academic advising setting Two to five years of experience providing academic advising and student support for the Assistant Director level Five+ years of experience providing academic advising and student support for the Associate Director level Experience working with Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, Starfish, and MS Excel preferred Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and support data-driven decision making Supervisory experience is a plus Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed Founded in 1853, Manhattan University is an independent Catholic Lasallian institution located in Riverdale, NY that embraces students of all faiths, cultures, and traditions.
