Common diagnoses/Types of patients: s/p STEMI with PCI, s/p cardiac procedures (TAVR), IABP, Impella, s/p open heart surgery, s/p arrest, stroke with TNK, neuro thrombectomy, s/p neurosurgery, s/p surgery and procedures (TCAR, Fem pop) OD, GIB, Sepsis, DKA
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Vasoactive drips, lines, ventilator management
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Both
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? The charge nurse does not take an assignment
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: There is an ICU tech/CNA
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: 24/7 Intensivist/fellows in the unit
RT in ICU 24/7: Yes
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Vents, Cpap, BiPap, Nitric
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No monitor tech, RNs are required to read and post strips every 4 hours. The unit uses GE bedside and central monitors.
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): Self scheduling is allowed unless the contract is specific on fixed shifts.
Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts per schedule, every other week unless the contract is every weekend.
Holiday Requirements: No
Is there a call or standby requirement? Yes
Floating Requirements: Telemetry
Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue - hospital provided
