POSITION SUMMARY
The Communication Specialist is responsible for dispatching and ensuring that all transport requests are met in a timely manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Handle emergency and non-emergency information via radio and phone Accurately enter information into CAD and dispatch the most appropriate unit Relay information to crews, facilities, management and other dispatchers on duty Perform tasks that are instructed by the Communication Supervisor Follow all safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals Schedule and ensure that all transport requests are picked up in a timely manner; communicate any delays to the Supervisor and the facility. Ensure that all crews are accounted for at all times; post units accordingly. Compose routine reports and correspondence. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS EMT Certification preferred Approved EMD Certification preferred High School Diploma or GED Good written and verbal communication skills MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
Working knowledge of EMS systems, private ambulance, and medical transportation Proficiency in duties performed by a NYS EMT and/or Paramedic Strong communication skills with the ability to provide and receive constructive criticism and/or negative feedback Excellent documentation skills Basic computer proficiency required
