The Senior Development Manager is responsible for leading and implementing the organization's fundraising strategy, with a focus on institutional support, individual giving, and donor engagement. This role works closely with the senior leadership to build strong donor relationships, expand funding streams, and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The Senior Development Manager will report to the Deputy Executive Director and will work closely with the Executive Director on fundraising initiatives.
Essential Functions
Fundraising strategy & execution
Design and execute annual development plans to meet revenue goals.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of institutional donors, individual donors, and prospects.
Support the Executive Director and Board in donor engagement.
Assist with developing and achieving plan metrics.
Lead PPSL’s grants and institutional giving strategy
Act as primary point of contact for individual and institutional donors throughout the lifecycle of the development process
Conduct prospect research and prepare donor profiles
Conduct outreach to secure and schedule donor meetings/calls
Prepare for and participate in pitches with ED to potential donors/foundations
Ensure proper communication, touch points, and verbal/written follow-up throughout the relationship building process
Provide timely and relevant updates to maintain funder interest
Schedule, prepare and participate in check-in meetings with ED and donors/foundations
Monitor grant cycles to secure renewals with existing funders
Manage PPSL’s grant portfolio
Draft and submit concept papers, LOIs and proposals
Collaborate with the Director of Operations on reporting requirements
Maintain calendar to track deliverables/activities
Responsible for donor stewardship including gift recognition for small dollar donations
Outreach and engagement with new and prospective donors
Responsible for all donor outreach and communications initiatives, including case updates, newsletter, social media, and others; written communications products including annual impact reports, organizational overviews, programmatic updates, in partnership with PPSL’s communications team
Design and execute fundraising and brand-building activities and events, specifically but not limited to donor-facing conferences and visibility opportunities.
Raise funds through individual small dollar donations
Research and advance Donor Advised Funds giving
Data Management & Reporting
Maintain and update donor database in
Salesforce, including individual donors
Monitor fundraising metrics and produce regular progress reports
Partner across teams to understand and report on key team accomplishments
