? Unit Overview
L&D Beds: 8 (plus 6 overflow)
Triage Beds: 7
Postpartum Beds: 40 (includes Mother/Baby, Antepartum, GYN)
Births: 1,800-2,000 per year
Charting System: Cerner (experience required)
Required Certifications
L&D RNs:
BLS
ACLS
NRP
Advanced FHM (AWHONN)
Must have C-section circulating experience
Mother/Baby & Postpartum RNs:
BLS
NRP
? Staffing & Ratios
L&D:
1:2 labor
1:1 delivery
1:3 triage
Postpartum/Mother-Baby:
1:4 couplets
Charge Nurse: Yes (may take assignments)
OB Techs: Assist in L&D, scrub for C-sections if needed
No IV team
RT & Pharmacy: 24/7
Laborist, Anesthesia, and Neonatologist on-site 24/7
? Schedule & Shifts
Shifts:
0630-1900
1830-0700
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call: Not required, but optional
Holidays: Rotated with core staff
? Floating & Orientation
Floating: May float to Postpartum
Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
