POSITION SUMMARY: Step into the shadows and become part of the fright! As a Scare Actor, you’ll bring Magic Screams to life (…or back from the dead) by immersing guests in spine-tingling encounters they’ll never forget. Whether lurking in haunted houses, prowling eerie scare zones, or startling in fog-filled alleys, you’ll use movement, voice, and atmosphere to create safe yet thrilling scares for our guests. You’ll master your character’s story, work with chilling special effects, and deliver consistent, high-energy performances - all while keeping safety and guest enjoyment as your top priorities. If you love Halloween, performing, and giving people goosebumps, this is the role for you! KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Portray assigned character(s) consistently and convincingly throughout the entirety of scheduled shifts. Interact with guests using approved scare techniques while maintaining a safe environment for guests and other team members. Follow event plans, guidelines, and supervisor directions at all times. Operate or interact with props and other scenic elements as instructed. Maintain assigned costume(s), makeup, and other equipment – Reporting issues to the zone supervisor. Monitor guest reactions and adjust performance to ensure an enjoyable experience. PREFERRED SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required:
Must be 18 years or older. Must be able to work weekends from September 27th through November 2nd in the evenings. Must be okay with having a full face of makeup and/or prosthetics applied daily. Must be able to wear a costume for the entirety of a shift. Must be comfortable working in dark, loud, fog-filled haunted attractions. Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Preferred:
Acting, theater, or improv experience. Prior haunted attraction experience. Outgoing, guest-satisfaction mindset. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to walk, stand, and perform for up to eight hours a shift. Requires occasional kneeling and bending. Requires occasional reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling. Requires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds. Requires occasional carrying of up to 100 pounds with the assistance of a two-wheel hand truck. Requires manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination, corrected 20/20 vision, hearing and speech.
