EMS Fleet Courier

The EMS Fleet Courier ensures safe and timely transport of medical equipment, supplies, and interoffice materials while supporting operational readiness. This physically demanding role requires mobility, strength to lift up to 100 lbs, and the ability to navigate challenging positions during vehicle maintenance tasks. The courier maintains a strong focus on safety, infection control, and effective communication, often working in environments with potential exposure to infectious materials. Manual dexterity, quick responsiveness, and adherence to organizational protocols are essential. Responsibilities

Perform light repair, assembly, and maintenance of EMS vehicles and related equipment. Wash, restage, and shuffle ambulances and support vehicles as needed. Assist with public relations events and department outreach when requested. Conduct routine cleaning and upkeep of the workspace to ensure a safe and organized environment. Utilize proper tools and equipment for light repair, assembly, and routine maintenance of EMS vehicles, including ambulances, cars, and trucks. Identify and recommend improvements to existing systems, procedures, and equipment based on field experience and operational needs. Communicate clearly and follow written/verbal instructions. Use and adapt tools to diagnose and perform repairs. Interpret schematics and technical documents. Maintain accurate manual and digital records. Learn and apply repair knowledge from training. Inspect vehicles in the field or shop to assess performance issues. Report mechanical concerns to supervisors and mechanics. Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Current valid N.C. drivers license with a good driving history. EMS certification or experience preferred Secondary Technical Education or experience in the automotive repair field preferred. Knowledge of occupational hazards and standards of safety precautions necessary in the work and on the work site. Positive interpersonal skills. Prior knowledge of EMS. Have effective written and verbal communication skills. Comply with department rules and regulations. Physical Requirements: Actively supports a safety-focused culture. Requires physical agility to climb, kneel, crouch, and assume awkward positions, as well as strength to lift up to 100 lbs. Must have fine motor skills, visual acuity, and effective communication abilities. Involves prolonged standing, walking, and regular bending. Potential exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases.
