Servicer A
Under direction, the Servicer A will service and perform simple repair work on vehicles. Incumbents perform a variety of routine job duties involving the cleaning, fueling and maintenance of transit vehicles; perform other vehicle service maintenance duties as required. Complete a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks requiring incumbent(s) to exercise good judgement in the field; perform duties within the limits of established policies, procedures and guidelines and maintain professionalism while working with others contacted in the course and scope of work.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a journey-level classification requiring the successful performance of the majority of assigned job tasks independently and consistent with established work standards and District protocols.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
This classification reports to the Director of Maintenance, Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. This classification does not supervise.

Vacuum bus interior Check tires and repair or change as required Maintain accurate records of work performed Steam clean equipment; wash windows Fuel the District's buses, cars, vans and equipment Simple repair work on vehicles Replace oil and other vehicle lubricants Perform other duties as required and assigned by Supervisor/Manager Reports to work as scheduled. May be required to work extended hours or hours outside of the regular schedule including weekends and holidays Follow the requirements of The Agency Safety Plan (ASP) which serves as a guiding policy document describing the agency's approach to managing risk and pro-actively addressing safety. Participation in the Employee Safety Reporting Program (ESRP) which protects employees that report safety conditions in good faith. QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the classification is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities is as follows: High School Diploma or GED and the equivalent of two (2) years' experience servicing buses. Possess a valid California Driver's License with driving record acceptable to District, with three (3) years of driving experience. AND Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement. Ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift Certificate Ability to obtain and maintain a TIA Certification REQUISITE ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL LEVELS:
Reading, math, and written language skills to perform essential functions of the job Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in routine and preventive maintenance and repairs on vehicles Knowledge on procedures for lubricating vehicles Experience servicing heavy duty fleet vehicles Ability to perform mechanical repairs Ability to size, mount and change tires Ability to use tools and equipment of the trade Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel Capacity to operate all necessary cleaning tools and supplies; Read, write, and comprehend spoken and written directions; and Adhere to safety procedures that have been developed. Must be capable of driving a car and doing manual dexterity-based duties. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL TASKS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Exposure to extreme heat, 100+, for up to 10 hours duration when performing repair work in summer weather. Exposure to extreme temperature swings, 70-110, for up to 4 hours duration, when leaving air-conditioned office to work outside in summer heat. Exposure to extreme noise, up to 90 decibels, when using steam cleaning equipment, blowers and etc. Work outdoors to perform cleaning duties on shelters, benches, bus terminals and etc. Work indoors to clean offices. Exposure to health hazards when cleaning public facilities and street furniture. Exposure to explosions when fueling equipment. Risk involves the possibility of being burned. Exposure to fumes, unpleasant odors, and potentially health hazards when using cleaning chemicals. Risk of throat or lung irritation and/or loss of consciousness. Exposure to dust when performing grounds maintenance. Risk of respiratory discomfort. Exposure to chemical hazards when working with cleaning products. Exposure to extreme cold, 30, for up to 4 hours duration, to clean shelters and benches, empty trash cans, etc. Sit to perform record keeping and drive vehicles. Climb hand-over-hand to climb ladder to clean the tops of shelters. Lift and move heavy or awkward items up to 50 pounds; safely operate a variety of tools and machines common to light construction and industrial maintenance; safely perform repetitive physical tasks such as manual shoveling, twisting and pushing/pulling, walking, standing bending, squatting, and kneeling; walking, bending, reaching above, and lifting (up to 50 pounds). See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read printed documents. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; hearing sufficient to utilize telephone and/or two-way radio equipment.
