Facility:
This facility is a Level 2 trauma center providing comprehensive ophthalmological care to the Wilmington community. The medical center offers advanced surgical capabilities and specialized eye care services with strong physician support and state-of-the-art equipment.
Opportunity:
Board Certified - Ophthalmology
Job Details:
• Coverage needed for two specific weeks: November 3-9 and December 22-28
• 24-hour shifts providing beeper call coverage with on-site response as needed
• Surgical procedures include trauma management (open globe repair and related procedures)
• Perform eyelid laceration repairs and therapeutic surgical procedures on lids
• Handle canthotomy/cantholysis for orbital compartment syndrome and drainage of abscesses
• Must be able to perform required anterior segment procedures and YAG laser treatments
• Non-surgical ophthalmology skills required with surgical/invasive procedure capabilities
• Preferred skills include cryotherapy, various laser procedures, and comprehensive anterior and posterior segment expertise
• Experience with cataract removal procedures (phacoemulsification, extracapsular, intracapsular extraction) preferred
• Board certification required (minimum board eligible)
• BLS certification required
• Must be able to obtain North Carolina medical license (90-day credentialing timeframe)
• Variable patient load per shift
