We are seeking a senior technology leader to serve as Vice President of Solution Development for Qcells' Grid & Energy Services (G&ES) division. This role will own the end-to-end architecture, solution engineering, and technical strategy for our power management systems, distributed energy software, and enterprise-scale clean energy delivery. The VP will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and integrating software solutions that support commercial engagements with utilities, data centers, and large real estate portfolios. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with strong cross-functional leadership, particularly in delivering complex energy solutions through a partnership-driven business model.
Responsibilities
- Offering Strategy & Development
- Define and lead the development of customer-centric energy service offerings, combining energy management software, solar, ESS, hydro, and microgrid systems.
- Integrate FTM and BTM software platforms to support co-optimization, demand charge reduction, resiliency, and participation in grid and market programs (e.g., DR, ancillary services).
- Develop and evolve power management system offerings, including cloud-native and edge computing architectures tailored for data centers, utility sites, and commercial portfolios.
- Collaborate with engineering, software, EPC, and finance teams to create modular offerings for C&I, utility, and government customers.
- Manage vendors and contractors to leverage external capabilities for offering integration.
- Solution Engineering & Development
- Lead the architecture and technical design of power management systems, including cloud-native applications, edge controllers, and software supporting DER integration and energy asset optimization.
- Translate utility and enterprise customer needs into scalable, modular solutions that support clean energy delivery and fleetwide power infrastructure management.
- Oversee development and integration of capabilities that enable grid interoperability, onsite generation coordination (e.g., solar, gas, diesel), and regulatory compliance.
- Guide solution design and rapid prototyping for strategic partnerships, pilots, and Off-taker-based commercial models.
- Build and manage a high-performing solution engineering team, including system architects, DevOps, and systems integrators.
- Collaborate with business development, product, GTM, grid operations, and partner teams to align technical delivery with commercial strategy.
- Establish frameworks for enterprise-grade security, data privacy, and compliance (e.g., SOC2, NERC-CIP).
- Coordinate the mobilization of Hanwha internal capabilities and external technology partnerships to accelerate solution delivery.
- Define and evolve the long-term technology vision, including edge-cloud orchestration, make vs. buy decisions, and platform extensibility.
- Serve as the senior technical voice in partnership negotiations, platform positioning, and strategic sales engagements.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Hanwha’s global software, finance, EPC, and manufacturing divisions to ensure offering alignment and execution readiness.
- Act as the voice of the customer to guide continuous improvement of service delivery, software roadmap, and asset lifecycle optimization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Business, or related field; MBA or Master’s in Energy preferred.
Experience
15+ years in software solution engineering, energy services, distributed energy systems, or utility-scale project development; minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing integrated energy solution portfolios.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of EMS, DERMS, and power management software for BTM and FTM applications.
- Experience with cloud-native architecture and edge computing frameworks in energy or industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with solar PV, battery storage, hydro, and microgrid control systems.
- Knowledge of utility interconnection, energy markets, and grid services.
- Proven track record of structuring and closing complex energy service deals.
