Position Purpose
The Network Director - Reliability Engineering will oversee the strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization’s network infrastructure, with a focus on ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability. This leadership role requires deep expertise in network engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE) principles, and a proven track record of managing complex, large-scale network systems. The successful candidate will lead a team of network engineers, drive innovative reliability practices, and align network strategies with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement network strategies to ensure maximum uptime, performance, and scalability of the organization’s network infrastructure.
- Lead a team of network engineers and site reliability engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of robust network architectures, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Champion site reliability engineering practices, including observability, telemetry, automation, and incident response, to enhance network resilience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., security, DevOps, and product teams) to align network capabilities with business goals.
- Drive the adoption of automation tools and processes to improve network efficiency and reduce operational toil.
- Establish and enforce network security policies, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity measures.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement of network hardware and services.
- Conduct regular network audits, performance assessments, and capacity planning to proactively address potential issues.
- Stay current with emerging networking technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, 5G, cloud networking) and industry trends to drive innovation.
- Prepare and manage the network budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Lead incident response efforts, ensuring rapid resolution of network outages and post-mortem analysis to prevent recurrence.

- GPC has two work locations to choose from, Atlanta or Dallas office.
- We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work a hybrid remote schedule.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong expertise in site reliability engineering (SRE) practices, including SLAs/SLOs, error budgets, and observability frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and technologies (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
- Experience with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid connectivity solutions (e.g., Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN).
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust architectures.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) to streamline network operations.
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with large-scale, enterprise-level WAN and data center networks.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as SD-WAN, 5G, or network function virtualization (NFV).
- Previous experience managing budgets and vendor relationships in a network engineering context.
