Job Title: Assistant Vice President, HR Business Partner

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, flexible schedule)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Compensation: Base salary $140,000–$170,000

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Vice President, HR Business Partner to join a collaborative and fast-paced HR team at a leading financial services firm. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in managing performance and talent programs, driving employee engagement, and supporting strategic HR initiatives. This is a highly visible opportunity for an HR professional ready to take ownership, drive outcomes, and grow into people leadership over time.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day HRBP activities and support strategic human capital initiatives across various business groups.
  • Own and manage performance management, promotion, and talent planning cycles in partnership with HR and business leaders.
  • Conduct performance check-ins, consolidate feedback, and maintain HR documentation in alignment with firm guidelines.
  • Track and report talent activity, including retention trends, action items, and performance improvement efforts.
  • Drive employee feedback programs by conducting 30-/60-day and new hire check-ins, supporting 360 feedback processes, and identifying coaching opportunities.
  • Provide support to employee groups and firm culture initiatives, including DEI and BRG programming.
  • Ensure timely execution of mid-year and year-end HR processes by managing communications, timelines, and stakeholder deliverables.
  • Contribute to cross-functional HR projects by developing proposals, preparing leadership presentations, and collaborating with departments such as Marketing and Technology.
  • Handle ad-hoc reporting and analytics to guide decision-making and improve process outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including hands-on HRBP responsibilities.
  • Strong grasp of performance management practices, employee relations, and talent lifecycle processes.
  • Experience within financial services or similarly high-performance, fast-paced industries is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm deadlines.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable with both high-level strategy and tactical execution.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and building a best-in-class hybrid work culture.
