The DMV Customer Contact Center located in Rocky Mount provides information pertaining to vehicle titling and licensing, driver license services, liability insurance, and safety/emissions inspections to the general public. Work is performed in a fast-paced, performance-based call center environment responding to inquiries via phone and e-mail. Employee will provide assistance to customers in resolving complex issues unresolved by automated voice processing equipment, provide comprehensive and detailed information, and prepare reports. Responses are learned and performed in accordance with DMV rules and regulations and the Privacy Protection Act.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Management prefers applicants with the following:

Experience analyzing, interpreting, and/or evaluating information or data.

Experience completing and maintaining records and reports.

Experience explaining policy, procedure, rules, regulations and/or laws to a diverse clientele.

Experience with customer service by phone and/or in person with diverse clientele.

Experience in Microsoft applications and/or mainframe databases.

A copy of the most recent performance review signed by supervisor is needed if selected for an interview

Applicant subject to motor vehicle records check. This position is considered “covered” under the REAL ID Act. Therefore, pursuant to 6 CFR, 37.45, the selected candidate will be required to undergo a background check which includes a name-based and fingerprint-based criminal history record check. The candidate that is selected for the position will be given a conditional offer of employment that would allow him or her to begin work subject to the results of the background check. Prior to beginning employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a name-based and fingerprint-based criminal history record check. A cost will be associated with this process for new employees. No cost is associated with this process for existing DMV employees.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
