Job Description And Duties

Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Staff Services Analyst utilizes their Spanish speaking skills to educate and protect vulnerable workers and provides analytical support for various projects in the Office of the Director. The incumbent supports the Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF), specifically the LETF Public Works Strategic Enforcement Initiative. The incumbent assists as an analyst for the Department of Industrial Relations Public Call Center for the Spanish Language Line, providing assistance to Spanish speaking workers. The incumbent will mainly take calls for the Spanish line but may also assist with callers in English. The incumbent performs research to prepare analysis of call center data to provide recommendations for improvement. Additionally, the incumbent supports an interagency team focused on improving statewide services and protecting farm workers and other industry workers that may be affected by the underground economy.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. The incumbent works 40 hours per week in a high rise building with artificial light and temperature control. The incumbent must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time or transporting up to 20 pounds of boxed files. The incumbent in this position has frequent contact with DIR staff, representatives from other state agencies, and the public in person, by telephone, and/or email.

Alternatives will be provided for incumbents who are unable to perform the non-essential functions of the job due to a disability covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Special Requirements

The position(s) require(s) fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
