Job Description

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Associate Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning, Olympic Sports position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).

The Associate Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning, Olympic Sports maintains three primary functions - to lead strength and conditioning for assigned sports, provide direct support and leadership for daily operations including budgeting, scheduling and equipment maintenance, and provide direct oversight and professional development to specified strength and conditioning coaches.

Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Exercise Science or related field. Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) in the form of C.S.C.S. or S.C.C.C. required. A minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the strength and conditioning field.

Job Competencies

Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to and motivate student-athletes. Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community. Strong work ethic, passion for the profession and commitment to student-athletes. Ability to work in a dynamic environment and be a positive member of a team. Knowledge with computers and its programs, telephones and printers.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
