Summary A growing, 8-year law firm in Suffolk County, Long Island is hiring an Attorney, Trusts & Estate Planning. Must be licensed in NY with at least 3-5+ years of related experience with progressive Estates Planning, Trusts, Wills and Probate, etc., Flex exists to work hybrid in the office 3-4 days per week. This is an exciting time to join the firm, which plans to add an additional office in Nassau County in the next 1-2 years, and thereafter throughout NYS! The firm specializes in servicing clients with Estate Planning & Administration, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Wills, Medicaid & Elder Planning Care, Probate, Estates Litigation, Guardianships, Asset Protection, and related Tax Planning, as well as with some related Real Estate work. Candidates must be able to discuss, advise and design complex estate and tax planning and implement solutions. Must be a self-starter who’s reasonably self-sufficient and enjoys autonomy, capable of managing clients and client cases beginning to end. It is NOT REQUIRED for candidates to bring a portable book of business to the firm, OR to necessarily perform business development. Responsibilities Work closely with clients to create, plan, and implement intricate and complex estate planning, trusts (irrevocable and revocable), dispersion of assets, wills, powers of attorney, etc., speak with clients at a level they can fully comprehend, and be the main point of contact. Analyze, discuss, listen, negotiate, and resolve legal conflicts / problems with action plans. Educate clients re estate planning, probate, retirement plans, contributions to charitable organizations, insurance options, etc. Work closely with paralegals and partners to ensure swift action through civil litigation process Maintain an effective, collaborative team culture for the firm, and help it to continue growing across Long Island and, in the future, beyond Long Island. REQUIRED Qualifications: J.D. Licensed to practice law in New York 3-5+ years of relevant Estates and Trusts Planning & Administration experience in the areas noted above Knowledgeable about Medicaid eligibility and asset protection planning Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. High EQ and able to be the voice of reason during stressful situations with clients. Technically savvy, with strong experience in using Trusts & Estates law firm software Strong problem-solving and analysis skills with a terrific attention to detail PREFERRED: 1-2+ years of relevant experience working at a law firm specializing mostly in Estate & Trust Planning, Probate and Elder law. A PLUS: LLM degree is NOT REQUIRED, but a plus, ideally in Tax or Estate Planning Basic knowledge of real estate law (commercial & residential), title insurance and civil litigation Salary & Benefits Annual base salary is up to approximately $175k plus bonus Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) – almost all employee premiums paid by company Paid vacation 401(k) company match Seniority level
