Summary

An stablished, local, growing law firm with 10 employees in Suffolk County, Long Island with a fun and flexible culture, is hiring a full-time Attorney, Trusts & Estates! It's required this Attorney be licensed to practice law in NY, have a J.D., and at least 3-5+ years of progressive Trusts & Estates Planning and Probate experience, preferably at a law firm that specializes in Trusts, Estates and Probate. Ideally the new hire will work on site full-time, but the client's open to working hybrid in the office 3-4 days per week.

The firm specializes in working closely with clients regarding Estate Planning services, advising them on their goals, and providing ongoing support. Aside from Trusts & Estates, the firm's other services include Elder & Medicaid Planning Care, Probate, Estates Administration & Litigation, Guardianships, and Asset Protection.

Candidates must be analytical, technically strong, able to discuss and design complex estate and tax planning, hard-working, an organized and motivated self-starter who's reasonably self-sufficient and enjoys autonomy, capable of managing clients, client cases beginning to end, and implementing effective solutions!

This is an exciting time to join this growth-centric firm, which will be expanding with an additional office in Nassau County in the next 1-2 years, and then throughout NYS in the future!

It's NOT important that candidates join the firm with a book of business or perform business development.

Responsibilities

Work closely with clients to create, plan, implement and complete intricate and complex estate planning, trusts (irrevocable and revocable), dispersion of assets, wills, powers of attorney, etc., speaking with clients at a level they can fully comprehend and understand. Function as the client's main point of contact. Analyze, discuss, listen, negotiate, and resolve conflicts and legal problems for clients and devise action plans. Educate clients regarding estate planning, probate, retirement plans, contributions to charitable organizations, insurance options, etc. Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process Maintaining an effective, collaborative team culture for the firm, and help the firm continue to grow across Long Island and, in the future, beyond Long Island. Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, JD degree, and a license to practice law in New York is required. LLM degree is a plus but not required, ideally in Tax or Estate Planning 3-5+ years of relevant Trusts & Estates Planning and Administration experience in the areas noted above, with a strong preference working at a law firm specializing in Trusts & Estates Planning, Probate and Elder law. Strong knowledge of tax laws - NY estate, income, federal estate, gift, etc. Knowledgeable about Medicaid eligibility and asset protection planning Basic knowledge of real estate law (commercial and residential), title insurance, and civil litigation. 'Hands-on' experience in these areas is a plus. High EQ and able to be the voice of reason during stressful situations with clients. Technically savvy, with strong experience using software for the legal industry Strong problem-solving and analysis skills with a terrific attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills.
