We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Corporate Development (M&A) to develop and execute the evaluation, financial, and operational strategy for mergers and acquisitions.
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Director of Corporate Development (M&A) will support the firm’s inorganic growth strategy by sourcing, evaluating, and executing acquisition and lift-out opportunities across the RIA landscape. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining a qualified deal pipeline, managing portions of the transaction process, and supporting post-close integration in partnership with cross-functional teams. Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, or a related field Preferred: MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred Years of Experience: Required:5+ years of experience in M&A, investment banking, or corporate development Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to define and refine the firm’s M&A goals in alignment with long-term growth objectives. Market Mapping: Develop a view of the target market, including segment priorities, geographic opportunities, and acquisition themes. Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to proactively inform target selection and deal timing. Partner & Investor Communication: Prepare supporting materials and updates on sourcing activity, deal stages, and conversion rates for investor reporting, team presentations, and partner discussions related to M&A strategy and pipeline status. Deal Origination Target Identification: Build and refine a pipeline of potential acquisition targets that align with the firm’s strategy, culture, and service model. Relationship Development: Establish and cultivate relationships with RIA founders/leaders, investment bankers, consultants, and other market influencers. Outbound Outreach/Inbound Screening: Execute structured outreach campaigns tailored to priority firms and evaluate inbound interest from potential sources Pipeline Ownership: Own the M&A pipeline from early-stage interest through close, ensuring consistent movement of qualified opportunities across each stage of the funnel. Deal Execution & Structuring Process Management: Coordinate and manage the transaction process from first meeting through to the close, including internal timelines and external communications. Valuation Modeling: Support the development of financial models to assess transaction viability, deal structure options, and pro forma impact. Diligence Coordination: Lead diligence workflows in collaboration with functional teams, ensuring timely review of legal, financial, operational, and cultural information. Term Sheet & Negotiation Support: Assist in drafting and reviewing LOIs/IOIs, term sheets, and transaction documents in partnership with legal and executive leadership. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all deal-related materials are tracked, stored, and compliant with regulatory and internal standards. Financing Coordination: Partner with Finance, investors, and capital providers to align deal terms with available funding, coordinate transaction timing, and ensure the financial structure supports long-term integration and value creation. Internal Alignment & Integration Support Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with all departments to ensure alignment on pre-close planning. Integration Readiness: Capture key expectations from seller conversations and translate them into actionable internal planning inputs. Cultural Alignment: Help assess cultural compatibility and provide feedback to leadership to support long-term retention and success post-close. Playbook Contribution: Contribute to the refinement of the firm’s M&A playbook, helping to codify lessons learned and improve future integration. Requirements & Skills Strong financial modeling and valuation skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities. Experience managing cross-functional projects and transaction processes. Demonstrated abilities as a critical and strategic thinker Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills, including experience presenting to and working directly with senior executives Proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets with the ability to adapt sales strategies to different clients High EQ and low ego—professional, composed, collaborative, and accountable Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
