Hours: First shift, Monday - Friday | Supervision of patient financial services team members | Minimal Travel | Pay commensurate with experience

JOB SUMMARY:

The Patient Financial Services Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Patient Accounting department, ensuring efficient billing, collections, financial counseling, and denial management processes. This role supports the hospitals mission by promoting financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and positive patient experience. The Supervisor leads a team responsible for insurance and self-pay follow-up, charity care, vendor coordination, and payment posting, with a strong focus on rural healthcare challenges and community engagement. Interacts with patients and staff in a professional manner, promotes teamwork and team building.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.

Experience: 5 years of previous medical business office experience preferred. 3 years of management experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervise billing, accounts receivables collections, and financial counseling staff, including onboarding, training, and performance evaluation. Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely resolution of outstanding claims. Oversee self-pay collections, including patient statements, vendor placements, and agency payments. Manage charity care applications and ensure compliance with nonprofit requirements. Coordinate denial management processes, including appeals and tracking trends. Ensure Revenue Cycle operations are conducted with a focus on compliance, departmental efficiency, individual employee productivity, and quality review. Maintain payor enrollment, credentialing, and revalidation documentation. Ensure accurate posting of payments and reconciliation of cash logs. Support reporting for Medicare cost reports, Medicaid audits, and other regulatory needs. Collaborate with vendors for billing, collections, and reporting services. Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Maintains confidentiality. Supports the facilities and physician practices and promotes a positive attitude. Adheres to the dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears appropriate identification while on duty. Adheres to the HIPAA and privacy policies and procedures. Reports any violation or appearance of violation of the policies and procedures and/or laws and regulations addressed in the Compliance Plan and the hospital Code of Conduct to the Compliance Officer, a member of Senior Leadership, or to the Department Director.

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
