Patent Agent – Chemical Engineering (Multiple Locations)
Direct Counsel is seeking a
Patent Agent
to join a
leading national
firm’s busy patent counseling & prosecution practice, with openings in Boston, Chicago, Washington, DC, New York, and Reston, VA. Key Responsibilities: Conduct prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses
Review scientific and patent materials to support patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation
Draft patent applications and responses to USPTO office actions
Ideal Candidate: Degree in chemical engineering or related discipline; advanced degree a plus
At least one year of patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting
Strong technical, analytical, and written communication skills
Broad scientific knowledge and an aptitude for learning complex technologies
Registered U.S. Patent Agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $125,000–$205,000, depending on experience and location
