Position Summary The
Obstetrician/Gynecologist
(OB/GYN) is dedicated to helping women achieve health, balance and well-being in all phases of their lives. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treatment of various medical conditions, monitoring illnesses and disease, routine/wellness visits, performing in office procedures,
inpatient/outpatient
surgeries and management of Obstetrical patients to include preconception counseling, prenatal care, antenatal care, delivery and postpartum care. Working environment is sharing 1 in 3 call and occasional Midwives assisting as first call on rotating basis, with on call Physician as back up in the event of emergency or Cesarean Delivery. One local hospital and 3 satellite office locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication with patients. Demonstrate effective and detailed written documentation skills. Diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases, disorders and conditions. Effectively monitor patient progress throughout treatment plan and care. Provide continuous improvement on patient outcomes. Conduct routine check-up appointments and maintain follow up throughout patients’ care. Perform pap smears, pelvic and breast exams. Counsel patients on family planning options and provide contraceptive management. Manage menopausal symptoms and provide hormone replacement therapy when necessary. Perform in office procedures such as colposcopies, biopsies, insertion/removal of intrauterine devices, Nexplanons, pessary fittings, etc. Prescribe appropriate medications to treat patients in accordance with standardized procedures and company policy. Educate patients on importance of treatment plans and communicate side effects and risk of medications prescribed. Participate in obstetrical and surgical management of patients. Perform
inpatient/outpatient
surgical procedures such as total abdominal hysterectomies, laparoscopic procedures (hysterectomies, oophorectomy, salpingectomy, tubal ligations), Hysteroscopy D&C, Vaginal and Cesarean Deliveries and rounding on inpatients. Robotic Training a plus, but not necessary. Educate patients on disease prevention and reproductive health. Complete OB/GYN consults, including those from the Emergency Department. Provide care and treatment to women during preconception counseling, prenatal, antenatal and postnatal periods. Conduct mood and emotional well-being assessments during post-partum appointment. Triage, labor and delivery management. Provide support to, and work collaboratively with Certified Nurse Midwife. Collaborate and consult with other medical and non-medical personnel. Participate in on-call coverage with OB/GYN Providers. Ability to multitask and manage assigned projects as directed. Stay updated on latest medical advancements and research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications Must be a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) having successfully completed an accredited Undergraduate Program, Internship, and Residency Program. Must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, or equivalent. Must have and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Shall have and maintain a current South Carolina Medical License, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate and South Carolina Controlled Substance License. Prior experience as an OB/GYN, preferred. Bilingual, preferred (English and Spanish)
