Mattahunt Elementary School The Hurley School Haynes Early Education Center About Us: The YMCA Education & Training Center is proud to launch a series of school-based Adult ESOL programs in collaboration with several Boston Public Schools. We are committed to empowering adult learners and fostering community growth through education. We are seeking passionate and experienced ESOL instructors to join our team and help make a tangible difference in the lives of our students.

Position Overview: As an ESOL Instructor, you will deliver high-quality instruction to adult learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop essential language skills. This role involves creating an engaging, student-centered environment where learning goals align with students' personal and professional objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Teach beginner-level ESOL to adults from varied linguistic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds. Design and deliver engaging, contextually relevant lesson plans that integrate both language and life skills. Foster an inclusive and safe classroom atmosphere that supports active participation and language practice. Present clear language and content objectives for each session. Regularly conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor and report on students’ progress. Communicate any classroom or student concerns to the Program Director promptly. Maintain accurate attendance records and submit them on time. Upload course materials (e.g., handouts, slides) to Google Classroom for student access.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; educational background preferred. TESOL, TEFL, or TESL certification required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Classroom and Zoom. Authorization to live and work in the U.S. Strong understanding of and sensitivity to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Willingness to engage in paid professional development activities. Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, French) is a plus.
