Plastic Body Panels Senior Buyer

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren

GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business. As Plastic Body Panels Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing productive and non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services. You will actively participate in developing commodity strategies, sourcing and negotiations, executing global/regional material budgets, and collaborate with the leading suppliers and stakeholders. This role involves a significant amount of initiative, analytical work, and independent judgment. Carbon fiber subject matter expertise is a requirement of the role, either technical or commercial in nature. Maintain sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics. Interact with leadership including: advising, updating, and communicating status on key items, achievements, and issues. Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures. Proactively drive launch excellence through supplier readiness. Build and maintain relationships internally and externally. Exhibit a strategic, forward-thinking mindset. Conduct sourcing and contracting activities, including: Sourcing event bid strategy and management. Bid analytics. Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR, and technical documentation. Leadership sourcing recommendation and alignment. Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to GM Audit Services. Cooperation with legal to negotiate special contract terms. Support commercial budget activities. Support logistics supplier management initiatives, including "Strategic Supplier Engagement." Nurture relationships with suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution. Perform rate management activities, including spot buys, rate analysis, and supplier requests. Participate in supplier KPI reviews. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate. Required Qualifications: 5+ years' experience in commodity purchasing, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, product development, logistics or program/product management Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely Relationship Management - Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative working relationships Negotiation - Engage in collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements Analytical Thinking - Consider various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts Results Focus - Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on time Workload Management - Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically + internationally Referred Qualifications and Competitive Edge: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field Experience with carbon fiber at a Major Tier-1 supplier or OEM Experience in developing contracts/agreements. Cost analysis or manufacturing background. Knowledge of materials management. Ability to interpret market data and engineering documents. Solid understanding of contract law in purchasing.
