Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for proactively managing group business with direct management of the Legal and Automotive vertical markets. Focused on the geographical market of the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Southeast & California territory including Los Angeles to Northern California.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Actively solicits new business opportunities through prospecting new customers (including groups, travel managers, travel agents and consumers). Uses network channels to open doors to new customers. Solicit group business through action plan preparation and execution.
- Maintain accounts, contact, activity and business details within the appropriate applications.
- Seeks methods to penetrate key business activities within the marketplace and finds profitable ways to bring this business to the hotel.
- Research information on market and trends and the clients supporting those markets locally.
- Actively participates in industry related organizations. Attends trade shows, community events and industry meetings to develop business. Participates in Sales blitzes. Makes onsite and field presentations to prospective clients. Participates in pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
- Establish parameters, quote and negotiate prices, confirming by written contracts.
- Work closely with Conference Services and Operational Departments to ensure all details of the contract were delivered.
- Develops long-term relationships with clients or potential clients by maintaining consistent verbal and written communications and providing good customer service.
- Ensure the achievement of sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
- Responds to guest inquiries and coordinates special arrangements and requests.
- Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority, otherwise refers the matter to upper management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events or circumstances.
Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality desired.
- Five or more years of luxury resort group sales experience. Experience selling to various assigned markets desired (i.e., Corporate, Education, Association, SMERF).
- Previous independent hotel, non-brand 4- or 5-Star hotel experience, preferred but not required.
- Previous pre-opening/rebranding Group Sales experience.
- Account Director will be assigned territory based on market trends, experience and current resort needs.
- Required to travel periodically throughout year.
- Excellent communications skills and effectively interact with all levels of employees, guests and vendors.
- Proven ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team.
- Well organized, outgoing, team-oriented and creative.
- Ability to work under pressure; must be able to multi-task and possess excellent follow-up skills.
- Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Opera, Salesforce FDC, ProposalPath and Cvent experience preferred.
