Summary: Oversees and monitors patient billing activities under general direction, in collaboration with the Director of Patient Financial Experience. Assigns work, monitors staff work queues, develops work performance and quality of customer service team. Applies systematic problem-solving approach in developing, implementing and evaluating plans for patient billing concerns and satisfaction. Monitors vendor quality and invoicing. Oversight of incoming mail distribution and electronic filing of incoming documents. Handles escalated patient questions and concerns.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required: a. Associate degree in business, finance, accounting or closely related field of study. b. Patient accounting experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the educational requirement.
2. Experience and Training Required: a. Three (3) years of experience in the healthcare industry, interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues. b. One (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: a. Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials. b. Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification. c. Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements. d. Call Center experience highly preferred. e. Ability to create and establish a standardized method for creating and maintaining accurate and legally compliant SOP's for department. f. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
4. Level of Physical Demands: a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
