isco Network Support Engineer
for a full-time, long-term contract position based
onsite
in N ewport News, Virginia . This role demands deep expertise in enterprise-level network design, architecture, and security, with a strong focus on Cisco technologies and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and supporting complex network environments across data centers and remote offices.
Responsibilities:
Provide advanced Cisco network support including system-level design, architecture, and enterprise security. Design and maintain CAN/MAN/LAN infrastructure and datacenter virtualization. Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP protocol stack, routing/switching protocols, and L3/L4 access controls. Manage and support stateful firewalls and enterprise security boundaries. Ensure high availability, performance, and security across network architectures. Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to network incidents. Utilize network monitoring and analysis tools to detect and resolve bottlenecks and outages. Qualifications:
10+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing configuration, management, and troubleshooting. 10+ years designing and supporting scalable enterprise networks using routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. 10+ years working with OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast routing, VoIP, and QoS in IPv4/IPv6 environments. Expertise in Cisco IOS, CatOS, NxOS, Cisco Works, TACACS+, ASA, FWSM, HP OpenView. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, and stateful firewalls. Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IDS/IPS solutions. Proficient in tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, and similar for network analysis. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions. Experience supporting VMware virtualized environments. CCNP Certification (preferred but not required).
