Job Requirements

Rotor Wing Pilot in Command: Must hold a current Commercial Pilot or ATP rotorcraft certificate with an Instrument Rating. Current class II medical certificate. Minimum of 2,500 PIC flight hours in helicopters, including 500 cross-country hours (with 100 at night). At least 75 hours of actual or simulated time, with 50 hours in actual flight. Weight in flight uniform must be less than 206 lbs. Must pass a part 135.293 check ride after INDOC training. All candidates must participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT FAA regulations and Intermountain's testing policies. Candidates will be provided testing details and substances involved.

Preferred Qualifications: Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualification, mountain flying experience above 8,500 feet, EMS experience, 300 night flight hours, and actual IFR experience.

Job Description

The Rotor Wing Pilot is responsible for safe aircraft operations in compliance with FAA regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations.

We are hiring pilots for our Intermountain Health Flight and Ambulance services at multiple bases including Elko NV, Winnemucca NV, Lander WY, Rawlins WY, Glenwood CO, Cortez CO, Los Alamos NM, and Fort Mohave AZ. The annual salary ranges from $41.11 to $58.75 per hour, depending on experience, with full-time benefits. Work schedules vary by location.

  • Perform preflight planning and aircraft operations with critical thinking.
  • Maintain knowledge of aviation regulations and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families.
  • Ensure aircraft cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Evaluate transports and participate in professional development activities.
  • Assist medical crew with patient and equipment handling.
  • Evaluate pilot performance as Instructor or Check Pilot.
  • Monitor safety issues and participate in safety reviews and training.
