Industrial Engineering Co-Op Position
Are you ready to explore the world of aerospace and defense? Do you want to learn from and collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the industry? At RTX, our internships, co-ops, and full-time careers provide an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems, advance your skills and create a safer, more connected world. Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX. In the industrial engineering co-op position, you will work with the avionics integrated production teams in the Cedar Rapids, IA facility. This position is for an industrial engineering student interested in learning engineering principles used in manufacturing. If selected, you will work side by side with our industrial engineers, production floor operators, and manufacturing support/engineering staff, to resolve flow, product, and quality issues associated with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. What sets our team apart is their ability and dedication to engage and help our students learn, grow, and develop themselves such that they do not feel like students but rather a direct part of the team. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). What You Will Do:
Directly work with our manufacturing production floor employees including operators, inspectors, quality, and test technicians to solve day to day issues as well as proactively working longer term projects to eliminate reoccurring issues. Design tooling to aid the manufacturing process while utilizing additive manufacturing (3D printing) to support manufacturing needs. Involved in the analysis of best layout, flow, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems. Assist in planning the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel to establish maximum utilization of equipment. Help in conducting studies pertaining to cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. What You Will Learn:
Working side by side with our industrial engineers (and other engineering functions), you will gain firsthand industrial engineering experiences and learn broad aspects of engineering in a manufacturing environment. Gain the ability and know how to resolve manufacturing issues of all aspects including safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, and cost. You will develop and strengthen your ability to both work independently and work with cross-functional teams through various day to day tasks and projects. Learn critical time management and prioritization skills necessary to be effective in the industrial engineering field. Learn about planning the sequence of operations for procedures, manufacturing documents, standard work, and product routings. Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
