The Sterile Processing Specialist will be a key member of the Medtronic Surgical Robotics Technologies (RST) Customer Success Field Organization. This position will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Robotic Program Managers, and Training teams to implement the Hugo RAS Instruments and Accessories (I&A) reprocessing program in hospital Sterilization Processing Departments (SPD). You Will:
Provide advice to customers, dealers, distributors, and sales personnel responding to product-related questions, issues, and problems. Act as a liaison between sales personnel and technical staff. Implement Hugo RAS Instruments and Accessories (I&A) reprocessing program in multiple hospitals within the assigned territory. Ensure SPD readiness prior to Hugo RAS installation, delivering sterile instruments and accessories before first cases are scheduled. Deliver training to SPDs, enabling a clear understanding of instruments reprocessing requirements, steps, and outcomes. Support SPDs to ensure target use life through observation, assessment, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Track reprocessing deviations and escalate when needed. Respond quickly to internal and external requests regarding cleaning, sterilization, and handling of Hugo RAS Instruments and Accessories (I&A). Must Have:
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of relevant work experience, or Associate's Degree with 4+ years experience, or Baccalaureate/College Degree with 2+ years experience. More than 3 years of continuous CBSPD/HSPA Certification or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of reprocessing experience, or Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Ability to work early mornings and late afternoons up to 50% of the time. Able to obtain hospital credentialing upon hiring. Deep understanding of requirements set forth in AAMI Standards such as St-79, 58, and others pertaining to medical devices reprocessed in hospital settings. Nice to Have:
Experience working in acute care facilities, reprocessing complex reusable medical devices such as minimally invasive, orthopedic, soft-tissue robotics, or flexible and rigid endoscopes. Deep understanding of performance and use of reprocessing and decontamination equipment such as washer disinfectors/auto washers, ultrasonic cleaning systems, steam sterilizers, and ancillary equipment such as compressed air, purified water, sterile barrier systems, etc. Deep understanding of reprocessing workflow, from point of use to storage. Understanding of the SPD organization including collaboration with other hospital departments and vendors. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards governing medical device reprocessing. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee assignments involving multiple teams and individuals. Understanding and knowledge of surgical instrumentation. Commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in medical device reprocessing. This position is in the east coast of US and will require travel within the territory.
