Application Engineer Test & Measurement / eDrive & High-Speed Data Acquisition

Join HBK's North American Test & Measurement team and help leading innovators in industries such as electric vehicles, electric aircraft, renewable energy, and power systems bring their products to market faster and with greater efficiency. In this role, you will focus on our strain-related, high-speed data acquisition, and eDrive/eMotor testing solutions, acting as a technical expert throughout the pre- and post-sales process. You'll combine engineering expertise with customer-facing skills supporting the sales team in pre-sales qualification, conducting in-depth technical discussions, and ensuring successful solution deployment. While the position is open to candidates anywhere in the US, preference will be given to those based in the Detroit / Michigan area to better support key regional customers. Pre-Sales & Business Development

Act as a customer-facing technical expert for eDrive, motor, and inverter testing within the Test & Measurement portfolio. Collaborate with sales to qualify opportunities and develop strategies for growth. Conduct technical conversations with engineers and managers to analyze requirements and define solutions. Demonstrate and establish the value of HBK's Test & Measurement solutions. Attend relevant industry conferences, events, and customer meetings. Cross-sell and up-sell across the broader HBK portfolio where appropriate. Technical Support & Solution Delivery

Evaluate and configure complete test and measurement systems (sensors, signal conditioning, DAQ, analysis software). Provide on-site and virtual demonstrations, technical presentations, and training. Lead system installations and commissioning to ensure peak performance. Offer technical troubleshooting and post-sales support. Support legacy HBM products including strain gauges, pressure sensors, torque transducers, and related measurement devices. Work with and support systems utilizing Quantum Data Acquisition (QuantumX, SomatXR) and Genesis High-Speed Data Acquisition platforms, along with Catman and Perception software. Relay product feedback, bug reports, and enhancement requests to the development team. Professional Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field; equivalent industry experience considered. 5+ years in engineering or technical sales, ideally in test and measurement, high-speed DAQ, or eDrive/motor testing. Experience with strain-gauge-based systems and related measurement technology is a plus. Familiarity with Quantum Data Acquisition systems, Genesis High-Speed Data Acquisition systems, Catman software, and Perception software is a strong plus. Strong understanding of power measurement, inverter/motor control, and electrical testing principles. Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to travel freely within North America (~25%, occasional international travel). Preferred location: Detroit / Michigan area. Personal Skills
