Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the Project Engineering function across Bakkavor, USA. This will include building and developing a capable project engineering organization, managing the capex plan for the business, establishing engineering workflow processes, responsibility to ensure efficient execution of capex, and working with the factories to establish Early Management. The individual for this role will have a strong understanding of the value chain in a CPG/FMCG company and will also have a good understanding of food manufacturing and packaging processes. This role combines a high level of business acumen with sound technical competencies that will encompass both process and packaging areas. A candidate who has had a variety of plant and corporate-based roles in engineering, operations, or activity management would be ideal for this role. It will require an individual who can be both hands-on and have a strong strategic outlook, and be able to direct and manage internal and external engineering resources and contractors/vendors.
Key Accountabilities and Functional Responsibilities
- Developing a world-class project engineering organization with outstanding technical skills, good business acumen, and a structured approach to engineering workflow
- Use their business acumen and cross-functional leadership skills to develop and execute the Bakkavor, USA capex plan
- Have visible leadership within the organization and provide technical leadership for the business
- Work across different plants to establish standards and best practices
- Understand manufacturing processes and technologies to provide solutions that maximize existing asset utilization, deliver an optimal cost structure, and speed to market
- Identify productivity opportunities and work with factories on quick and efficient implementation
- Support growth initiatives by working closely with Product Development, Commercial, and Finance organizations
- Leveraging understanding of the end-to-end supply chain to ensure activities are managed and executed in the most optimal manner
- Strong project management skills to develop robust scopes of work, timelines ,and cost estimates for capex projects
- Influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and communicate effectively
- Effectively interface with Operations, Finance, Business, Product Development, and Sales teams to facilitate ideas and influence across multiple functions and layers of organization
- Have the ability to travel within and across business units. Expected travel requirement for this role is an average of 30% with periods of heavier or lighter travel
Requirements
- BS Degree in one of the core engineering disciplines (ME, IE, Chem Eng). An advanced degree or an MBA is preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years experience in a CPG/FMCG company (preferably strong food manufacturing experience), with 8+ years managing/leading engineering.
- Track record of multiple roles that have been both plant-based and corporate-based in an operations/supply chain organization
- Proficient in MS Office suite (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), MS Project. Basic skills or proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills required
