Director of Human Resources . Based near Union Station in downtown Chicago, this role offers the rare opportunity to
design and scale the HR function from the ground up

Lead HR Strategy
– Develop and implement people strategies aligned with business growth and culture goals.
Shape Talent Acquisition
– Build pipelines of skilled construction professionals and leadership talent across the U.S.
Own Compliance & Risk
– Ensure adherence to Davis-Bacon, OFCCP, SCA, and prevailing wage requirements.
Drive Engagement
– Launch initiatives that boost retention, DEI, and employee experience.
Modernize HR Systems
– Implement and optimize HRIS, ATS, and workforce analytics tools.
Partner with Executives
– Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, COO, and project leadership teams.
Develop Leaders
– Build training, career pathing, and mentoring programs for future talent.
Oversee Total Rewards
– Manage compensation, payroll alignment, and benefits strategy.
What You Bring
10+ years of HR experience, with 5+ in a leadership role.
Background in
construction, engineering, or federal contracting industries .
Expertise in compliance (Davis-Bacon, OFCCP, SCA, EEO, wage laws).
Proven success leading recruiting, compliance, employee relations, and benefits.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a “builder’s mindset.”
Preferred: SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or advanced degree; experience with M&A or union/non-union environments.
