Job Description:
The Leave of Absence (LOA) and Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of employee leave and accommodation programs, including but not limited to, medical, parental, disability, protected, and other leave types. The specialist ensures compliance with relevant laws and company policies while providing timely, accurate, and supportive assistance to employees. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of leave policies and regulations.
Responsibilities: • Report to Benefits Director and work closely Senior Benefits Specialist and Total Rewards Specialist. • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding their leave of absence requests. Provide employees with information on their leave options, procedures, and status updates in a timely manner. • Manage the process for all types of employee leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, medical, military, personal, workers compensation, etc., including meetings with employees filing for leave and/or an accommodation. Ensure that leaves are processed in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. • Coordinate with the Legal team and stay current with federal, state, and local leave laws (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, ADA, HIPAA, Workers' Compensation, applicable state paid disability, etc.) to ensure the company is compliant. Advise employees and management on applicable leave laws and ensure legal obligations are met. • Coordinate with global HR teams to track employee leaves outside the US as well as global Payroll team • Maintain accurate and confidential records for all leave cases. Ensure that documentation, including medical certifications and other required paperwork, is complete and filed properly with our leave and disability vendor. Prepare reports on leave usage and trends to identify patterns, compliance issues, and potential improvements. • Work closely with HR partners and department managers to communicate employee leave status changes, monitor return-to-work plans, and facilitate accommodations. • Provide guidance and training to HR team members, managers, and employees on leave of absence processes, policies, and compliance requirements. • Continuously evaluate the leave of absence process to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, employee experience, and compliance. • Serve as contact for US employees' benefits inquiries and changes.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable working and meeting with individuals at all levels of the organization Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university Five years of relevant leave of absence management experience Experience administering and strong familiarity with FMLA and ADA benefits Experience providing guidance on leave programs
