WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER The Association of Former Students engages and inspires the Aggie Network for Texas A&M University in perpetuating the Aggie Spirit. Through our Annual Fund, as well as other revenue streams, we provide scholarships, endowments, emergency student loans, and awards for faculty. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Communication of complex numerical data. Technical proficiency with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong interpersonal skills that drive high integrity outcomes. Numerical analysis. Critical thinking and high level of accuracy in complex tasks and projects. Confidentiality. ROUTINE DUTIES

Oversee accounting processes and internal controls. Identify issues and determine appropriate treatment under GAAP, working with guidance from CFO and Controller. Responsibility for general ledger preparation, entry records, discrepancy identification, and reconciliation. Ensure accurate financial postings within Information Systems. Assist in timely preparation of all financial statements, reports, and records, including synthesizing information and compiling footnotes. Identify quarterly variances for inclusion in financial letter to Board of Directors. Oversee creation and communication of quarterly management reports. Partner with controller to ensure clean and timely year-end or other scheduled audit. As needed, assist internal audit with process flows and booking of financial items. Assist with complex accounting entries, such as investments, etc. Assist with tax and compliance filings and specialized reporting. Participate in full-spectrum of AP and AR cycles. Work with banking system and oversees security of receipts through proper storage. Oversees signature authority, accounting processes, and internal controls. Maintain thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure. Maintain current Chart of Accounts. Review payroll details including approval, reconciliation, and posting. Oversee reporting requirements including 1099's, Unclaimed Property, and requests from Texas A&M University. Ensure compliance with Finance Policy. Supervise non-exempt staff including certifying timecards. Ensure department workload is aligned to achieve the performance goals of the department and The Association, and that staff is sufficiently cross-trained. Hire and train new employees including understanding of accounting and financial policies. EMPLOYEES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STUDENTS

Participate in various Association-wide activities such as engagement and fundraising goals, internal event teams, task committees, attending gameday receptions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and other external events as required. Serve as an ambassador by meeting our Team Expectations, fostering relationships with students and other constituents of Texas A&M. Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required:

Five or more years of accounting experience with additional two years of supervisory experience; Technical expertise with GAAP and internal controls; Two years of overseeing data integrity; Proficiency with accounting and financial information system platforms; Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal); Experience handling multiple accounting projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

Certified Public Accounting; non-profit experience.

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit or stand for long periods on occasion and carry objects up to 10 pounds. Ability to work at a desk with frequent use of keyboard and monitor. EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.
